Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced that Greece will take new measures to address the negative effects of excessive tourism.

According to Reuters, Greece is preparing to take new measures to combat the problems caused by excessive tourism. These measures include surcharges on cruise passengers and an increase in accommodation taxes.

All passengers arriving at Greek ports will pay a surcharge. This will be higher on the popular tourist islands of Santorini and Mykonos. The accommodation tax will be increased for the period between April and October.

Mitsotakis said he would ban short-term rentals in the three main districts of Athens for at least a year.
