Rome plans to charge foreign visitors 2.13 euros to visit the Trevi Fountain.
According to Schengen.News, Rome is planning to introduce a fee for the Trevi Fountain, one of the country's most iconic landmarks and a source of overtourism.
Officials explained that the charge is not intended to raise money, but to reduce and control crowds and “prevent them from eating ice cream or pizza at a monument that deserves due respect”.
Rome is also considering restrictions on new accommodation to reduce pressure on the historic center.
