At least 30 injured in chairlift accident at ski resort in Spain

At least 30 people were injured, 9 of them seriously, in a chairlift accident at Astun Ski Resort in Spain.

It was reported that at least 30 people were injured, 9 of them seriously, in a chairlift accident at the Astun Ski Center in the northern Spanish city of Huesca. In a statement made by the authorities, it was stated that one of the cables broke due to a malfunction in the return reel on the chairlift line at the Astun Ski Center and some of the chairlifts fell. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said in a statement after the accident, “The news of the accident at Astun station saddened us all. I have spoken to Jorge Azcon, president of the Aragonese autonomous government, and on behalf of our government I have conveyed that we are giving all our support to help the injured. All our love is with the injured and their families.”
