The data shared by WTTC President Julia
Simpson, who visited Antalya, reveals that Türkiye has consolidated its
leadership in global tourism. Spending by domestic and foreign visitors is
rising rapidly, while Turkey continues to see strong growth in tourism. The industry's contribution to employment is
expected to reach 3.3 million people.
According to the latest data from the World Travel
& Tourism Council (WTTC), Türkiye's Travel & Tourism industry will make
an economic contribution of approximately 5.2 trillion TL in 2025. This figure
corresponds to approximately 12 percent of Türkiye's Gross Domestic Product
(GDP). The data shows that Turkey is consolidating its position as one of the
world's most popular and powerful destinations.
According to WTTC's annual Economic Impact Research
(EIR), international visitor spending is expected to reach TL 2.6 trillion and
domestic visitor spending is expected to reach TL 1.4 trillion in 2025.
According to WTTC, Türkiye's Travel and Tourism sector contributed TL 5
trillion to the national economy in 2024. According to WTTC projections, in
2035, Türkiye's Travel and Tourism sector will generate TL 7 trillion in
revenue.
According to WTTC's Economic Impact Study, Türkiye's
travel and tourism industry will employ 3.3 million people in 2025. This is
equivalent to more than 10 percent of total employment in the country. The industry creates long-term employment
opportunities in areas such as accommodation, transportation, food and beverage
services and cultural experiences.
WTTC President Julia Simpson commented: "The
travel and tourism industry in Türkiye continues its rapid growth. 2025 is set
to be a record-breaking year for Türkiye. The expected increase in 2025
reflects Türkiye's global appeal and the dynamism of domestic tourism. As
travelers seek unique and enriching experiences, Türkiye opens its doors to
them with unmatched hospitality. But this success will not come by itself. Türkiye
needs to continue to innovate, invest and remain agile to stay ahead of
international competition."
Ayhan Bektaş, Chairman of Coral Travel Group,
commented on the predictions as follows: "We are proud to be a part of Türkiye’s
tourism success. It is a great responsibility for us to contribute to the
sector, create employment for millions of people and add value to the national
economy. Public-private sector cooperation is one of the cornerstones of this
success."
As a result of the day-long talks, the World Tourism
Travel Council (WTTC) and Antalya authorities agreed to organize various
activities to support the promotion of the city.
