The 20 thousand-person tourism complex
built on the coast of North Korea's Kalma Peninsula was inaugurated with a
ceremony attended by the country's leader Kim Jong-un.
North Korea, which is often on the agenda with its
military cooperation with Russia, has made a remarkable tourism move this time.
According to the statement made by the North Korean administration, the 20
thousand-person tourism complex built on the shore of the Kalma Peninsula in
the city of Wonsan was opened with a ceremony attended by the country's leader
Kim Jong-un. Speaking at the ceremony attended by Russian Ambassador to North
Korea Alexander Matsegora and embassy officials as special guests, Kim said
that the new complex will play a leading role in building the country's tourism
culture. Addressing the employees of the giant tourism complex, Kim said,
"All units responsible for the operation should do their best to provide a
pleasant and satisfying vacation for the guests coming to this facility."
Emphasizing that the tourism sector is of great importance as a driving force
contributing to economic growth, Kim said, "This newly built complex will
contribute to our country becoming a world-class tourism and cultural center
and will pave the way for similar facilities to be built in different parts of
the country." Kim emphasized that it is important to further develop the
country's tourism.
North Korean Prime Minister Pak Thae-Song stated that
the coastline on the Kalma Peninsula has gained a modern and elegant appearance
with the newly built tourism complex and said, “This is a groundbreaking change
that only the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) can realize.” Stating that this
project is an indicator of North Korea's people-oriented policies, Pak thanked
Kim for leading the project. It was reported that the inaugurated tourism
complex will start serving domestic tourists from July 1.
