In 73 addresses across France, where thermometers reached 40 degrees Celsius, the second highest level of ‘orange’ alert was issued due to the heat wave.

In Spain, the meteorological agency warned that temperatures would rise above 40 degrees across the country over the weekend.

A ‘red alert’ was issued in 21 cities across Italy due to extreme heat. The Ministry of Health warned that the heat could pose serious risks not only for the elderly, children and those with chronic diseases, but also for healthy citizens.
