Europe's heat wave continues

The heat wave continues to be effective in some countries across Europe, especially in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece.

The French Meteorological Agency announced that due to the extreme heat wave, a red alert was declared in 16 regions, including the capital Paris, and an orange alert in 68 regions. While it was reported that the temperature in the country could rise to 41 degrees during the day, it was noted that approximately 1350 schools were completely or partially closed for 1 day.

The German Meteorological Service announced that hot and dry weather conditions increased the danger of forest fires and air temperatures will reach 40 degrees in some parts of the country. It was stated that restrictions were imposed on water use in some cities in the country.

In Seville, Spain, temperatures are expected to be above 40 degrees Celsius for the next three days and night temperatures are expected to be at least 25 degrees until Thursday morning.

In Portugal, it was announced that the temperature reached 46.6 degrees in the Peloponnese, east of the capital Lisbon, and 7 out of 18 regions were under extreme risk warning.

The Italian Ministry of Health also issued a ‘red alert’ with the highest risk warning for 17 cities in the country today due to extreme heat.

In the fire risk forecast map shared by the Greek Fire Department, it was announced that a ‘yellow alert’ was declared today in 23 regions, including Athens, Crete, Ionian Islands, Lesbos, Chios, Chios, Samos Island and Thessaloniki.
