Wyndham Hotels & Resorts accelerates expansion in India

Accelerating its growth in India and neighboring countries, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts announced that it has partnered with Cygnett Hotels & Resorts to bring the La Quinta by Wyndham and Registry Collection Hotels brands to the region and open more than 60 hotels in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal over the next 10 years.

At a time of rapidly growing demand for travel in India, Wyndham has partnered with Cygnett, one of the country's leading hospitality companies with a growing portfolio. Domestic travel spending in India reached US$186 billion last year and spending on leisure travel is expected to grow 12 percent annually. Wyndham continues to meet the rapidly transforming needs of the Indian market, where infrastructure investment, middle-class mobility and both domestic and international tourism are on the rise.

Dimitris Manikis, President EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said: "India is a strategic market for us where we have been growing for many years and we see this partnership as a new chapter in Wyndham's growth story in Eurasia. Cygnett shares our commitment to sustainability and long-term growth, as well as meeting the growing demand from travelers seeking experiences that combine comfort, authenticity and excellence. We are bringing Wyndham's world-renowned brands to even more of the region's top destinations and introducing new and exclusive accommodation options, from luxury vacations to stylish, quality hotels."

La Quinta by Wyndham enters the market

More than 50 hotels are expected to open in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh under a 10-year exclusive development agreement between Wyndham and Cygnett. These openings will include new construction as well as conversion projects, with the first hotels expected to open by the end of 2026. La Quinta hotels are known for their friendly atmosphere, modern amenities and affordable prices in their segment. With more than 900 hotels in its portfolio worldwide, the brand appeals to both business and leisure travelers in the upper-middle segment.

Registry Collection Hotels offers boutique luxury

Wyndham and Cygnett will also bring Registry Collection Hotels to the Indian market with 10 properties under a non-exclusive 10-year agreement. These hotels, the first of which is expected to open in 2026, will operate under a co-brand with Cygnett's new 5-star luxury brand Anamore. With more than 30 properties in its global portfolio, Registry Collection Hotels stands out as a boutique and luxury hotel brand, each specially selected to offer exceptional experiences in the world's exclusive destinations.

Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder and Managing Director of Cygnett Hotels & Resorts, said: "Our partnership with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts gives us the volume, global recognition and brand strength to grow rapidly and create value for our owners and guests. We are proud to contribute to the growth of the La Quinta and Registry Collection Hotels brands, which complement our portfolio perfectly and meet the demand for high-quality hotels and guest experiences in the region. With our extensive network in the region and our commitment to brand integrity, we are in a strong position to successfully bring these brands to South Asia."

Driving Wyndham's growth in Eurasia is the Wyndham Advantage, a combination of world-class marketing, sales and other resources designed to set hotel owners up for success. With more than US$350 million invested in innovative technologies since the company went public in 2018, hotel owners have access to cutting-edge technology from industry-leading suppliers, including next-generation hotel and revenue management systems, as well as Wyndham Rewards' growing audience of more than 115 million registered members worldwide.
