MICHELIN Guide to reveal first-ever global hotel key

The Michelin Guide's first global Michelin Key Selection will be unveiled on October 8, 2025.

Following the successful implementation of MICHELIN Keys in 15 key travel destinations in 2024 and early 2025, this new step marks the first step of a global selection celebrating the most exclusive hotels around the world.

Alongside the MICHELIN Keys, the MICHELIN Guide will also introduce four new Special Awards highlighting excellence in specific areas of hospitality.

The announcement will be made both online (via the Guide's social media and editorial platforms) and at a special ceremony in Paris.

For the first time, travelers will be able to benefit from a seamless experience combining MICHELIN's trusted reviews with integrated booking services.

Known worldwide for its restaurant selections and Star ratings, in recent years the MICHELIN Guide has created an independent global hotel selection of over 7,000 properties in more than 125 countries.

Just as Stars indicate the best gastronomic experiences, MICHELIN Keys highlight the most exclusive accommodations in the hotel selection. Judged by MICHELIN Inspectors according to 5 universal criteria, these Keys go beyond the hotel's amenities to create a new and trusted international benchmark for an exceptional hospitality experience:

A MICHELIN Key: A very special stay

A real gem with character and personality. It can break the mold, offer something different or be one of the best of its kind. The service goes far beyond similarly priced facilities.

Two MICHELIN Keys: An exceptional stay

A unique and unforgettable experience in every aspect. A carefully run hotel with character, personality and charm. Stunning design and local touches make this accommodation special.

Three MICHELIN Switches: A unique stay

Here it's all about amazement and pampering; the pinnacle of luxury, comfort, service and elegance. One of the most attractive hotels in the world and the ideal venue for the trip of a lifetime. All the elements of true hospitality are found here, making the experience unforgettable.

After celebrating more than 1,500 exceptional hotels with its first Key selection, the MICHELIN Guide is now taking another step forward to showcase the best of hospitality on a global scale.

Introducing Four New Special Awards

Alongside the MICHELIN Keys, the MICHELIN Guide will present four Special Awards, which recognize achievements that go beyond the classic categories and celebrate excellence in specific areas:

MICHELIN Architecture & Design Award: Awarded to hotels whose architecture and design inspire unforgettable journeys and elevate the guest experience with a unique aesthetic identity.

MICHELIN Wellness Award: Awarded to hotels with pioneering and holistic wellness programs that nourish body, mind and spirit.

MICHELIN Local Experience Award: Honors hotels that reflect the character and spirit of the region and offer guests the opportunity to develop deep connections with their locality.

MICHELIN Opening of the Year Award: Recognizes new hotels that have made an extraordinary impact on the world of hospitality in their first year.

Each Special Award will be given to only one winning property. The winners will be announced at the ceremony on October 8, 2025. The shortlists (five nominees for each award) will be announced on the following dates:

Architecture & Design Award Nominees: August 13

Wellness Award Nominees: August 27

Local Experience Award Nominees: September 10

Nominees for the Opening of the Year Award: September 24

Michelin Guüde Hotel Ceremony

The 2025 MICHELIN Keys selection will be unveiled both digitally (on the Guide's social media and editorial platforms) and at a special Ceremony in Paris. Shining a light on timeless culture and exceptional design, the ceremony will take place at the magnificent Musée des Arts Décoratifs, overlooking the Louvre and the Tuileries Garden.

This exclusive event will bring together representatives of the award-winning hotels (around 300 international hoteliers), Special Award winners, leading journalists and industry influencers.

The ceremony will be an impressive celebration honoring global hospitality cultures, original concepts and extraordinary know-how.
