Club Med is preparing to offer a brand new vacation experience with its first resort in South Africa

Club Med is preparing to open its first resort in South Africa as part of its global growth strategy. Club Med South Africa Beach & Safari is located on the Dolphin Coast in the KwaZulu-Natal region, north of Durban, on the shores of the Indian Ocean, renowned for its natural beauty. The resort is scheduled to welcome guests starting in July 2026.

Spanning approximately 32 hectares, the resort will offer guests both beach and safari experiences in the same vacation, marking a first for Club Med. Remaining faithful to Club Med's “all-inclusive” concept, this new destination also brings the brand's philosophy of luxury holidays in harmony with nature to South Africa.

The resort, which will feature a total of 411 accommodation units, highlights natural stone, wood, and local textures in its room design, blending modern lines with traces of Zulu culture. The Exclusive Collection – Ilanga section, offering special services for guests, consists of 66 suites. All areas are designed with an approach that respects the region's flora and fauna, featuring architecture and interior design that blend seamlessly with nature.

Club Med South Africa Beach & Safari will offer guests not only a vacation experience immersed in the sea, but also exclusive safari opportunities available only to resort guests. Located in a private conservation area spanning approximately 18,000 hectares, Mpilo Safari Lodge brings the Club Med experience to Africa's wild nature. The safari area is home to the five major wild animals known as the “Big Five”: lions, leopards, African buffalo, elephants, and black rhinos. Mpilo Safari Lodge offers separate areas for families with children and adults, allowing for a luxurious and comfortable safari vacation to be planned in addition to a beach vacation, with different duration and program options.

The resort stands out not only for its nature and exploration offerings but also for its sports and wellness facilities. Club Med offers a rich sports experience with various outdoor activities such as a surf school, padel courts, yoga, and trapeze, while also providing guests with relaxation and rejuvenation opportunities through its spa, hammam, and special wellness areas. For families with children, there will be special clubs for every age group from babies to teenagers, nature-based activities, and social experiences such as the “Amazing Family” program.

The resort, built in line with Club Med's sustainability principles, aims to obtain Green Globe and 4-star Green Star certifications, while the “Bye-Bye Plastics” initiative seeks to completely eliminate single-use plastics. Club Med South Africa Beach & Safari also represents a significant investment for the local economy. The project is being implemented with a budget of approximately 100 million euros. It is expected to create 800 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs, with the majority of the 1,200 workers currently employed in construction coming from the local community. In addition, 110 young people trained in collaboration with the NukaKamma Hospitality School will participate in this project by completing internships at Club Med facilities.

This special resort, the latest addition to Club Med's vacation concept that emphasizes its connection to nature, freedom, and local cultures, marks its first step on the African continent with a multi-dimensional vacation experience.
