Istanbul Airport became Europe's busiest
airport between November 24-30, surpassing London Heathrow and Amsterdam
Schiphol Airport with an average of 1,459 flights per day, and was also
recorded as the 8th busiest airport in the world.
The General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM)
published the air traffic statistics for the period November 24-30 from the
European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL). According
to the published data, Turkey ranked 6th among the top 10 countries in Europe
with an average of 2,724 flights per day in terms of arrivals and departures at
its airports. Among the 10 airlines with the highest number of flights in
Europe during the period in question, THY ranked second with an average of 1,468
flights per day, while Pegasus Airlines ranked among the top 10 airlines in
Europe with an average of 569 flights per day.
According to EUROCONTROL's 2025 November 24-30 period,
Istanbul Airport ranked first among the busiest airports in Europe with an
average of 1,459 flights per day. Istanbul Airport was followed by London
Heathrow and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The report also ranked Istanbul
Airport as the 8th busiest airport in the world in terms of flight operations.
