It has been reported that the Louvre
Museum in Paris, the capital of France, is closed due to a strike by its
employees.
In a statement shared on the Louvre Museum’s official
social media account, the museum said: “The museum is closed today due to a
strike. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
The General Confederation of Labour (CGT) and the
French Democratic Confederation of Labour (CFDT) announced that approximately
400 Louvre employees unanimously decided to go on strike.
It was stated that museum staff are demanding
additional personnel and measures to cope with excessive crowding at the iconic
Paris landmark, particularly following a jewelry theft that took place in
October.
