SunExpress, a joint venture between
Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa, took delivery of two new Boeing 737-8 aircraft
on December 19. The aircraft, registered as TC-SLA and TC-SLB, departed from
Boeing's facility in Seattle and landed at Antalya Airport on December 21 after
refueling in Keflavik. The aircraft are scheduled to begin operations on
December 26 and January 2.
SunExpress continues to take delivery of aircraft
ordered from Boeing in line with its growth and fleet modernization plans. The
airline has orders for 132 aircraft, including 87 firm orders for the 737-8 and
737-10 models. With the delivery of these two new aircraft, 19 of the orders
have been added to the fleet to date, and 5 737-8s were delivered in 2025.
The SunExpress fleet will continue to grow with new
deliveries in 2026. In this context, four new Boeing 737-8 aircraft are planned
to be added to the fleet in the first quarter of 2026.
The new generation aircraft joining the SunExpress
fleet significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions thanks to advanced
engine technologies. The airline offers passengers a more comfortable and
environmentally friendly travel experience with a quieter cabin structure,
advanced air circulation, and modern lighting systems, while also increasing
its operational efficiency.
