A DRV workshop demonstrates how travel companies can assess current risks, make decisions, and confidently manage crises.
The challenges facing crisis and security management in the tourism industry continue to grow. Geopolitical tensions, volatile security situations, climate-related extreme weather events, and new technological developments are fundamentally changing the demands placed on travel agencies, tour operators, and tourism companies.
With the workshop “When Crises Become the Norm,” the German Travel Association (DRV) offers up-to-date situation assessments, concrete action recommendations for daily tourism operations, and insights into the use of AI in crisis management. Specialists and managers thus gain access to current expert knowledge and practical support for addressing current challenges. Two dates are available for the workshop: Thursday, July 30, in Frankfurt am Main, and Friday, August 14, in Berlin.
“Crisis management is no longer an exception but an integral part of day-to-day operations in the tourism industry,” explains Melanie Gerhardt, Chair of the DRV Committee for Crisis and Security Management and the seminar’s presenter. “The goal of the workshop is to instill confidence in decision-making, contextualize current developments, and prepare participants for future challenges.”
The workshop is aimed at employees from travel agencies, tour operators, Destination Management Companies (DMCs), product management, and sales, as well as tour guides and managers with operational responsibilities.
Crises today unfold in a significantly more dynamic, complex, and often concurrent manner. At the same time, the need for reliable information is growing to ensure decisions can be made with confidence and customers can be advised professionally. This advanced seminar addresses these developments and provides up-to-date knowledge.
The workshop focuses on topics that are currently of high relevance across the industry. These include the current kerosene situation and its impact on travel, managing geopolitical developments and volatile security situations, and the operational handling of extreme weather events. Additionally, the workshop covers aspects of incident management in accordance with current safety regulations, as well as modern real-time crisis management.
Another key focus is on the potential applications of artificial intelligence in crisis management. Participants will gain insights into modern applications for monitoring, analysis, and communication, as well as practical guidelines and checklists for data-driven situation assessments and decision-making processes.
The workshop places special emphasis on current global crisis situations and their potential impacts on the tourism industry. Using modern technologies and real-time data, developments are analyzed, evaluated, and contextualized for practical application within the organization.
