Cinque Terre Bans Flip-Flops: Tourists Face €2,500 Fine

1 min read

In Cinque Terre, an area in Italy known for its steep and slippery hiking trails, flip-flops and sandals have been banned.

According to a report on Idealista, walking in flip-flops and sandals—or other footwear unsuitable for hiking—has been banned in Cinque Terre, one of Italy’s famous tourist destinations.

This decision, aimed at preventing tourist accidents on the region’s mountainous trails, will result in a fine of 2,500 euros (approximately 130,000 TL) for those who fail to comply.
