In the town of Inakadate, Japan, "Tambo" art, which began in 1981, uses rice paddies as the canvas and different colored rice plants instead of paint. Every year in June, the rice is planted by local residents and volunteers, and the harvest takes place in October.
This tradition, which was started to promote regional tourism and showcase rice cultivation to the world, attracts more than 100,000 tourists annually who come to see these massive artworks.
