Launched in 2023 by Accor, one of the world’s leading hospitality groups, the Handwritten Collection—a collection of boutique hotels with distinctive character—has reached a significant milestone today with the opening of its 50th hotel. Operating in 20 countries and having opened its 50th hotel, the Handwritten Collection continues to grow with more than 50 hotels currently in development.
Designed for travelers seeking not just a place to stay but also stories during their journeys, the Handwritten Collection brings together unique destinations that reflect the guest’s personality and the spirit of the destination in every detail. Each hotel is carefully selected, prioritizing character over standardization and story over uniformity.
Jean-Yves Minet, Global Brand President for Accor’s Mid-Scale and Economy Brands, said: “The Handwritten Collection celebrates individuality and the power of human connections in the hospitality industry. Reaching 50 hotels demonstrates the growing interest in hospitality experiences shaped by personal, authentic, and genuine stories. At the same time, it offers independent hotels the opportunity to become part of a global collection brand where they can connect with international travelers seeking stories. As we continue to grow, our goal is clear: to create a collection where hoteliers’ individuality is not only preserved but also made even more visible, and to provide guests with truly human experiences that blend with the local fabric and forge emotional connections.”
As the Handwritten Collection marks its 50th hotel opening, it continues to expand into new destinations around the world. The brand’s development portfolio includes more than 50 new hotels planned to join the collection in the coming years.
Camil Yazbeck, Global Director of Development for Accor’s Mid-Scale and Economy Brands, said: “Reaching 50 hotels in such a short time is an extraordinary achievement. With more than 50 hotels in the development phase and many more projects currently under discussion, the Handwritten Collection has gained strong momentum worldwide. Hotel owners are showing great interest in this model, which allows them to preserve their hotels’ identity and story while also leveraging the strength of the brand and Accor. This growing project portfolio reflects the increasing demand for distinctive, transformation-focused brands that celebrate individuality and deliver strong commercial performance. We are excited about the opportunities ahead as Handwritten Collection continues its global growth journey.”
Among the most notable projects set to join the collection in the near future is Treasure Island TI Las Vegas – Handwritten Collection, which will be the brand’s second hotel in the U.S. and its first in Las Vegas. This iconic property, home to the world-famous Cirque du Soleil show Mystère, will add significant value to the brand’s portfolio. In 2026, Hotel Rathauspark Wien – Handwritten Collection, located in a historic building in Vienna, Hotel Shanghai Hongqiao – Handwritten Collection in Shanghai, and Château de Mazan – Handwritten Collection in Provence opened their doors to guests. The brand will add Hotel Aeschi Interlaken – Handwritten Collection and The Queen at Chester Hotel – Handwritten Collection to its collection in the summer of 2026, Palais am Schlossgarten Merseburg – Handwritten Collection in the first quarter of 2027, and Satori Resort – Handwritten Collection in 2028.
