The Peninsula Hong Kong brings together the magical world of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

3 min read

Inspired by the musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which will be staged in Hong Kong, three exclusive experiences reinterpret the enchanting world of chocolate through a seamless fusion of gastronomy, hospitality, and the arts.

The Peninsula Hong Kong, a symbol of the city’s timeless elegance, serves as the Official Hotel Partner for the Hong Kong performances of the beloved Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and invites guests on an exclusive journey this November that pushes the boundaries of imagination. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s story, which has captivated generations, the hotel brings Willy Wonka’s fantastical universe to life through refined culinary experiences, the subtleties of the art of chocolate, and exclusive accommodation privileges.

Brought to life within The Peninsula Hong Kong’s iconic atmosphere, these special experiences offer guests not only a luxurious stay but also a unique world where they can discover the magic of the story through all their senses. The themed Afternoon Tea served at Felix restaurant—located on the hotel’s top floor and offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Victoria Harbor—along with a visit to the Chocolate Room, open exclusively to select guests, and musical tickets included in select packages, are among the standout perks of this extraordinary journey.

Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, one of the unforgettable works of world literature, tells the story of Charlie Bucket—who leads a modest life—and how he gains entry to the extraordinary factory of the mysterious master chocolatier Willy Wonka thanks to the Golden Ticket he finds. Charlie and the other Golden Ticket holders’ adventure—filled with rivers of chocolate, the Oompa-Loompas whose music is etched in our memories, and surprises that transcend the limits of imagination—is given a fresh interpretation this time in the sophisticated world of The Peninsula Hong Kong.

Felix, The Peninsula Hong Kong’s restaurant renowned for its contemporary culinary approach, is hosting a special Afternoon Tea experience inspired by the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starting November 10. Transforming Willy Wonka’s colorful and surprise-filled world into a refined culinary narrative, this exquisite menu elevates the classic Afternoon Tea ritual to a whole new level with its creative presentations and rich layers of flavor.

The savory selection features refined delicacies such as a ham and cheese sandwich enriched with black truffle egg salad; a sea urchin mousse sandwich served with trout caviar, beets, and hummus; and a smoked salmon and caviar sandwich topped with carrot panna cotta.

In the dessert selection, the varied textures and aromatic depth of chocolate take center stage. Bitter chocolate cream served with black currant compote, white chocolate mousse with red fruit jam, yuzu cream balanced with yogurt cream and clementine confit, apple-cinnamon cake topped with vanilla Chantilly cream, and a chocolate ganache tart with hazelnut praline all add elegant touches to this enchanting culinary journey. Themed cocktails and non-alcoholic cocktails, paired with carefully selected teas, take the creative spirit of the experience even further.

The Afternoon Tea experience goes beyond gastronomic presentations, inviting guests to explore the different sensory dimensions of chocolate. A spectacular chocolate waterfall served with seasonal accompaniments, the Chocolate Blind Tasting—which centers on the sense of taste—and the fun-filled Chocolate Mendiants Cracking Fun activity, where chocolate discs are cracked open to reveal their contents, add an interactive dimension to this special ritual.

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Afternoon Tea” is served daily at Felix in two separate sessions—from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM—from November 10 to December 10, 2026.
