The number of tourism companies that ceased operations in Russia during the first six months of 2026 reached 2,700, marking a 52.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
According to a report in TürkRus, companies operating in Russia’s tourism sector are closing one after another. This number reached 2,700 in the first six months of 2026. Meanwhile, the increase in the number of newly established tourism companies during the same period was only 0.84 percent, the lowest level in the past three years.
The report noted that the contraction in the sector is linked to a slowdown in travel demand, consumers shifting toward lower-budget vacations, disruptions at airports, and rising operational costs.
