The last-minute business, which has been heavily touted by some tour operators and cruise lines, has not taken off in travel agency sales.
Touristik Aktuell – This is evident from the latest figures released by back-office specialist Tats. According to these figures, new bookings for tourism in brick-and-mortar travel agencies in June were down 3.8 percent from the previous year. The cruise segment even showed a 4.7 percent decline compared to June 2025.
The decline is particularly serious because travel agency sales of new bookings have been almost consistently in the red since the outbreak of the Iran war. As a result, there were high hopes that a surge in bookings would occur before the start of the summer vacation season.
