In the first half of 2026, Russia managed to break into the top three in the rankings for package tour bookings for the first time in two years.
According to Onlinetours data, the 56 percent surge in domestic tourism increased Russia’s share of the tourism market, while the United Arab Emirates (UAE) saw a decline in tourist numbers.
Türkiye maintained its lead with a 31 percent share of bookings, while Egypt ranked second with 29 percent. Russia rose to third place with a 10 percent share. Russia is followed by Thailand with 9 percent and Vietnam with 7 percent. While Vietnam’s decline—from a 17 percent share in the first half of last year—is noteworthy, the UAE slipped to sixth place.
The sharpest decline, however, occurred in China. Having held an 18 percent share last year, China fell to 3 percent this year, dropping to seventh place on the list. Further down the list are Abkhazia (2 percent), the Maldives (1.5 percent), and Sri Lanka (0.6 percent).
