Tourism nights booked online up 5.3% in Q2 2026

Between April and June 2026, tourists spent 258.8 million nights in EU short-term rental accommodation booked through Airbnb, Booking or Expedia.

The total number of guest nights in the second quarter of 2026 increased by 5.3% (+13.1 million) compared with the same quarter of 2025 and by 23.9% (+50.0 million) compared with the same quarter of 2024.

This information comes from monthly data on short-stay accommodation offered via online platforms. Today, Eurostat published the data for the second quarter of 2026 at national level and for the first quarter of 2026 at regional level.

Sea and mountains: Canarias and Rhône-Alpes lead in Q1 2026

The most popular regions for short-term rental accommodation booked via online platforms in the first quarter of 2026 were Canarias in Spain and Rhône-Alpes in France (8.8 million nights each) and Andalucia in Spain (8.3 million nights).

Among the 10 most popular regions in the first quarter of the year, 5 were in Spain, 3 in France and 2 in Italy.
