Adults-only hotels are more in demand than ever. Demand in this segment has also risen at alltours.
At the same time, alltours has been steadily expanding its selection of adults-only hotels: The portfolio has grown significantly, particularly in the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, and Greece. In Spain alone, alltours now offers more than 140 hotels geared toward adult guests. What was once considered a niche product has long since become an integral part of the tourism offering.
“For several years now, we’ve been observing a steadily rising demand for adults-only hotels,” says Jonas Neubert, Head of Hotel Procurement at alltours. “Peace and quiet, privacy, and a vacation experience tailored to adults are becoming increasingly important to many travelers. Many of our customers are parents or grandparents themselves and deliberately book adults-only hotels and resorts as a break from everyday family life.” Depending on the hotel’s concept, different age limits apply. In addition to hotels with a minimum age of 18, there are also adult-friendly properties that allow guests as young as 14 or 16.
While adults-only hotels used to be popular mainly among guests between the ages of 45 and 60, a significantly younger demographic is now emerging. More and more couples between the ages of 25 and 35 are consciously choosing this hotel segment. Guests’ expectations can differ significantly: Younger travelers often seek design, fine dining, spa amenities, and a diverse range of lifestyle and leisure activities, while older guests place particular value on tranquility, comfort, personalized service, and a slower pace of life.
The increased demand for adults-only concepts is also reflected in the range of hotels available. In addition to traditional adults-only hotels, separate adults-only areas are increasingly being created within larger resorts. At the same time, the range of options is becoming more diverse—from modern lifestyle hotels and wellness resorts to smaller, boutique properties.
Classic Mediterranean sun destinations are particularly in demand at alltours: Spain, Greece, and Turkey currently top the list of the most popular adults-only destinations at alltours. Mauritius and the Maldives dominate the long-haul destinations. Guests there particularly appreciate the high-quality resorts, wellness offerings, and exclusive all-inclusive services. Both destinations are extremely popular with honeymooners, and many adults-only hotels offer attractive extras for honeymooners—ranging from room upgrades and romantic dinners to specially curated honeymoon packages.
