A new global study by Irish travel insurance specialists at JustCover analyses over one million online travel reviews across 155 popular holiday destinations to reveal the places where people feel happiest on holiday.
To examine how happy travellers feel while on holiday, JustCover examined over one million online reviews for different tourist venues, such as local attractions, restaurants, resorts and scenic spots. The study assesses how often travellers use language expressing genuine joy and happiness in their reviews. A formula was then used to calculate a ‘Happy Place' Score out of 100 for each destination.
North America dominates the top 15, with more than a third of the top-ranking destinations located in the United States, including Las Vegas, Maui, New York City and Chicago. The top results feature a rich mix of scenic beach destinations and vibrant cityscapes, showing that happiness in travel takes many different forms.
