Two people who broke into the Auguste Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, stole four works of art with a total value of approximately 9 million euros.

It was reported that two individuals who entered the Auguste Renoir Museum in the southern French town of Cagnes-sur-Mer stole works of art worth approximately 9 million euros. It was noted that the thieves cut the four paintings out of their frames and fled the museum after the alarm went off at 5:48 a.m. local time.

Police teams investigating the scene found two zippered bags in the museum garden believed to belong to the suspects. It was noted that museum management is continuing its assessment of the damage inside and any other works that may have been stolen. Officials stated that the investigation is being conducted by the French Sub-Directorate for the Fight Against Organized Crime.

The museum, located at the Les Collettes Mansion where French Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir spent the final years of his life, houses 10 original paintings by the artist, approximately 40 sculptures, personal belongings, furniture, and historical archives.
