During a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that they are prepared to work toward making visa-free travel between the two countries permanent.
Russian President Putin met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. In his remarks during the meeting with Xi, Putin noted that relations between Russia and China have developed successfully across all areas and expressed his condolences for the loss of life resulting from the floods in Nepal and Tibet. Putin also said, “We are ready to work toward making the visa-free travel arrangement between Russia and China permanent.”
Citizens of both countries can stay for up to 30 days on reciprocal terms when traveling for tourism, business, or personal purposes. Russia and China had decided in July of this year to extend the reciprocal visa-free travel arrangement through December 31, 2027.
